Just the other day, I was questioning the existence of god. You see,  existence is much too ordered for it to be arbitrary -- so I was thinking that there has to be some huge presence that is organizing this whole thing, and perhaps this presence is god?   

So I went looking for proof. At first I googled him.  I saw that there was an interview with him so i read it.  But I still was not convinced, Actually, I could have written that interview myself.  Then, being a bit of a dabbler in science, I thought the website that said it offered scientific proof of the existence of the Divine was as good a place as any to look.  Wrongo!!!!  I was starting to become a little disillusioned.  I spoke to friends about my quest -- my   friends referred me the encyclopedia of god --I still wasn't satisfied that there was proof that god exists.  I was getting a little frustrated with my search.  After all I was told that you can find anything on the Internet. I searched religious chat rooms, on line essays, cyber churches, on line temples, consulted with cyber rabbis...... Nothing-- absolutely zilch.

I was just about to give up and it happened --  I heard it -- could it be -- was it the voice of god --  who else could it be?  yes he was speaking to me through my computer.  It was truly him -- the DIVINE - the ALL MIGHTY -- THE CREATOR -- telling me " you got mail!"

This Memorial Day

Too often we forget the reason why we close up shop and honor Memorial Day.  This Memorial Day think about what we have and will create as members of this larger world. Let's think about Bush, think about our policies, domestic and abroad.  Let's think about Americans, Arabs, Israelis, Europeans, Asians, Africans, Christians, Jews, Muslims throughout history -- soldiers and civilians that have lost their lives in the name of both just and unjust causes.  Think about the lessons we have learned and the ones we may have forgotten.  And then again, think about your part and what you will create and how to pave a better path for those who come after you. 

My heart is with those who are overseas, those who have lost family, and those who struggle everyday.

Slides are shoes - for the fashion ignorant

I can remember a few years ago everyone was wearing black.  Black jeans, black shirts, black boots.  Then I think everyone started to wear brown, brown tops, jackets.  As if brown wasn't enough they started to wear orange the next season.  Then cherry red and eventually pink.  And as if pink wasn't cheery enough now we are onto glitter, metallic and sparkles! 

Life was so easy when it was just black ...  it was cheaper, it didn't require much thought and it certainly didn't require any creativity.  As if life isn't difficult enough, I now have to worry about matching and clashing -  I am now wearing sandals with gold sparkling starfish attached on them.  I have a pair of slides with metallic red, purple and blue laces.  See what happens when you allow a little color in your life -- everything tends to get out of hand!

I love paris in the spring time

And there it was, the sunshine, the blue sky, crisp air.  It just appeared along with the smile on my face, a kick in my step and a song in my head.   Perhaps it is because a co-worker just returned from her first trip to Paris, or maybe it is the weather -- but I can't pull my thoughts away from my first trip to Paris. 

I am remembering the young man I met there -- Monsieur Antonio Gobert; very handsome, and not very good with the English language.  The lack of communication didn't bother me at all.  With the help of his friend Maurice, I was able to understand all I needed.  Tony worked for Air France, his mom was from Italy and his dad was French.  He lived in the outskirts of the city in a beautiful home with a beautiful garden.  He must have been my age, but I am not sure. 

My limited French and his limited knowledge of English caused a lot of confusion for us.  In fact it caused us to visit the Eiffel tower 4 times.  Every time I would say "not the Eiffel tower again"  he would hear  "Eiffel tower again" and before I knew it I was in the rickety old elevator approaching the top.  I spent two fun-filled weeks in Paris with Antonio and his friend Maurice.

When I returned home to NYC, we kept in touch -- but never saw each other again.   I love Paris in the springtime, la lal la la la la la.

gods gifts to us

Music like language can communicate all of life's sorrows and triumphs.  Music like language can bring forth laughter as well as tears. It provides a framework for our movement and our stillness. Music like language reveals our spirit. As it touches our heart, and moves our soul, we begin to believe in magic.

Government funded Viagra

The Detroit Diva just reminded me of a news item I have been reading about over the past couple of days.  Seems as if the state I am living in is paying for Viagra for convicted sex offenders.  Just what we need -- sex offenders with 4 hour hard ons.  It makes me question a few things about this country I call home, not the least of which .... why would the state pay for anyone's Viagra and not cover birth control pills for women?   

I am really going to win the mega million this week

It is my turn to win.  I am due.  What would I do with my money.....

• I would pay off my brother's mortgage
• I would set up college funds for my nieces and nephew
• give my sister an equivalent amount that I gave my brother (she does not need it as much as he does) -- to be fair.
• do something for my dad ...  not sure what
• I would buy myself a nice apartment in Manhattan and a home in the country
• Hire a full time cleaning person to clean my homes
• While I am at it -- hire a chef
• I would give a lot of money to the University I work at -- they are a good institution
• travel
• speed up the completion of my masters program
• quit my job
• I am sure I would be very generous with my friends
• I think I would end up giving a lot of it away
• set up a private SLP practice after I get my masters
• Spend more time having fun
• I would buy a hot car

Cool Whips

Unlike Jonah, I try to enjoy my food.  So every night before bedtime I have a diet jello and two teaspoons of cool whip lite.  I have to give my sister credit for turning me onto this very delicious treat.  It has 25 calories and absolutely ZERO nutrients!  What is cool whip made of anyway?
